A "service reminder..."
September 17, 2008
A treasured quote from Socarates...
"An unexamined life is not worth living."
....and, words of reflection:
"Result of meditation; thought or opinion after attentive consideration or contemplation;
especially, thoughts suggested by truth."
I remind myself of "where I've been, who I am, what I have done."
I humbly share with you evidence of "service to others, service to God." May this serve as
a "window into my soul".
You may left click on one of the thumbnail (size) photos shown below . . . to display a larger version of that
thumbnail photo.

Letter from the 'Brunswick County Literacy Council' in recognition of my small
part in fund raising via a
raffle.
For one year, 1995, I operated
Island Craft Consignment Shop -
mostly, for the benefit of area crafts people.

I developed the first two versions of website
NCBIA.ORG for the
'North Carolina Building Inspectors' Association'. This is a 'recognition
award' I received for that work effort.

I was blessed with the opportunity to assist the "DownEast" residents of Carteret
County, N.C., with some of their home clean-up and repair, in the aftermath of
hurricane Isabel.

A "path not taken", into a monastery; over 10+ years and several visits;
perhaps, not meant to be. I am now "too old"...

A "fork in the road", taken 2+ years ago, led me to truck driving.

And so, I have been a "non-believer", a pagan, a Christian (Protestant and Roman Catholic),
a naturalist, and now .... a return to a believer! In regards to spirituality and religion,
I was recently labeled a "free spirit" by a pastor-friend. This last, a free spirit, perhaps
best describes who and what I am . . . . because I truly believe in a "God" - "Christ Jesus" -
"Holy Spirit" (whatever/whomever
that is); in both "seen and unseen" worlds (in a reality beyond the capabilities of our normal
"senses" to detect, perceive, live); in a "one-ness of humanity" which defies ownership and branding
by one particular religious organization; in a "karmic reality" which applies to all humans (yes, we
all make our mistakes); in the intrinsic goodness, value, and worthiness of each human being;
and in the existence of other worlds/dimensions/realities populated by sentient beings.
Am I a "flakey, New Age, delusionist"? In a world filled with so many conflicting and competing "power
groups" and "authorities", with so many narrowly-focused and staunchly dogmatic "fundamentalists" . . .
I would be extremely surprised if a few people did not consider me as such. It is my opinion, belief,
and hope that . . . future time, advances in our technologies and societies, the continued evolution of
our species, and the eventual "de-cloaking" of alien visitors . . . will ultimately determine which of
us are correct in our world view and paradigms. If I am wrong, I will admit I am wrong . . . and seek
"God's" forgiveness...

I am a work in progress .... and so are you!
