Belmont Abbey Monastery
August 26 - 29, 2008
I needed a break, a brief vacation. The silence, solitude, worship and community
I needed is, for me, available at a monastery. My visit was abbreviated
by a need to go and assist sister Sylvia with the care of our mother.
I hope to return
and continue my visit as soon as possible; hopefully, as a "Vocations Candidate". While
a "Guest of the Monastery", I was told by other guests and Vocations Candidates that
decisions by the monastery's Vocations Director are made after careful, prayerful,
deliberation by the abbot and Senior Monastic Council - a decision process that could
extend over several weeks.
I may be too old to enter the Vocations program at this or any other monastery. While awaiting
a decision, I plan to return to driving OTR (Over-The-Road).
I have the following "rushed" digital photos of my interrupted visit. Click on one of the
following thumbnail photos to view a larger version of that thumbnail.
