Work History:
- May 2005 - September 2006: Food Photographer and Website Developer.
During my second visit to Crete, Greece, I assisted my third ex-wife with development
of http://greekfood.about.com/
website. I used my Pentax and Olympus digital cameras to take photos of Greek food
ingredients, food products, shopping trips, "on-the-table" recipes, and step-by-step
food preparation
methods and techniques. I also provided non-plagiarized source material for the history, folk legend,
and factual data for many of the herbs, spices, cheeses, etc., based upon information
obtained from travel guides, cook books, and Internet websites. I appreciate the fact
that the photos and information continue to serve my ex-wife and website visitors.
I had a lot of fun taking the photos and doing the research. Some of the photos were
a bit difficult to accomplish due to "light reflectivity hot spots" caused by the
presence of olive oil, water, etc. Most of the photos were taken in either natural
sunlight or normal home illumination. For a few photos, I used the camera's built-in
fill (or bounce) flash.
The research always produced "compound tangents" of interest (example: doing research
about garlic would lead me to a website about, say, the
Gilroy Garlic festival, which,
in turn, might lead me to a recipe for a "Walnut Garlic Tart").
If another opportunity to do food photography arises, I might purchase some type of
"light
box or tent" to assist me.
