Work History:
- May 2005 - September 2006: Food Photographer and Website Developer.
During my second visit to Crete, Greece, I developed a previous version of my personal
website (now offline). My goals in developing this version were:
- Learn to develop and provision a website that utilized Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database, Microsoft
Asp.Net version 2.0, Microsoft Visual Basic 2005, and other Internet-based software.
- Learn how to develop a multi-lingual website which provided fast access to different language
versions of the website, via database-stored translated content.
- Learn how to utilize PC-based and Internet-based language translation software.
- Learn how to develop an Internet-based content management sub-system so that I would not
be required to remember all of the "nitty-gritty techie stuff" each time I maintained the website.
The website incorporated translation of USA-English content to ten non-English languages. All of
the textual (prose) content and the "text for webpage navigation/control" were stored in the
database.
I tried to "raise the Phoenix" but was unsuccessful due to changes in the hosting environment and
supporting software. I simply did not have the time to investigate and implement the changes
necessary to again "see the bird fly".
I have archived this previous version on compact disc. Perhaps one day....
