Kato Arhanes, Crete, Greece

After my return to the USA from Kato Arhanes, I needed a job, a place to live, and money! Sister Sylvia offered to show me a small a-frame cabin in the woods she had found for me to rent. I wasn't ready to settle down to a typical 9-to-5 routine, and all of the overhead costs attendant to that path. I still had an urge to travel, to see more of the USA, and to pursue one of the vocations I had fantasized about as a teenager - OTR driving.

Surfing the Internet for truck driving websites, I discovered that I needed to be trained in order to be hired by a trucking company, that the school/training cost more money than I wanted to spend, that I could finance both school and room-n-board.

I spoke with recruiters with several truck driver training companies, and after a fax exchange of application and other docs, I packed a bag and headed for the Greensboro NC bus terminal.

Spending 21 hours on GreyHound buses, a one-way trip from Greensboro NC to Newport AR, is NOT my idea of a good time!
